The problem
The basement wall had been patched and repainted before, and the cracks had come back through the paint — a vertical break running down the wall with finer cracking spreading around it, and an older patched panel still visible in the finish. How we fixed it
We masked and contained the room, prepped the full wall surface, and bonded a carbon fiber grid across it from the sill down to the floor in structural epoxy, working it around the water service and pressure reducer rather than disturbing the plumbing. Covering the whole wall spreads the load across the entire surface instead of concentrating it at the edge of a patch, which is what causes repaired cracks to reopen just outside the repair.
