Foundation Wall Crack Repair in Westport, CT

Two separate failures at the same Westport property. Inside, a crack ran the full height of a poured concrete foundation wall, straight through a cored pipe penetration and up to the drain line passing through the top of the wall — the worst place for a wall to lose continuity, because the opening already interrupts it. Outside in the garage, the slab had cracked clean through at the overhead door and dropped, leaving an open gap with the reinforcing bar hanging in a void: the stone base beneath had washed out, so the slab was spanning nothing. A crack near the roofline on the exterior wall was documented at the same visit.

The wall crack was cut out along its full length and packed to the back of the wall, then a carbon fiber grid was bonded floor-to-ceiling across it in structural epoxy, sealed around the pipe penetration so the reinforcement stays continuous where the wall is weakest. In the garage, the broken slab sections were cut out and removed, the washed-out base was rebuilt and compacted, and a new reinforced slab was poured. Filling a crack like that without addressing the void underneath only buys a season.
