Original construction was missing the footer with insufficient structural support. We rebuilt the footer at 10× the original load capacity, then reinforced the wall above it.
Before and after: Missing Footer Rebuild + Structural Reinforcement in Norwalk, CT

Norwalk crack problems are usually manageable when the wall, the water, and the slab are treated as one system instead of three separate issues. See our full foundation crack repair coverage in Norwalk →
The problem
Norwalk home where exterior excavation revealed the original construction had no proper footer beneath a section of foundation wall. The wall had been bearing on insufficient subgrade, with rebar exposed and the structural support inadequate for the load above. This is a serious structural defect, the wall was settling and cracking because there was no foundation underneath it.
How we fixed it
We rebuilt the footer first, installing a new foundation footer with significant load-bearing capacity, roughly 10× the structural support of what was originally there. Once the new footer was poured and cured, we performed structural reinforcement on the wall above to lock the new structural assembly into a continuous load path. The result is a foundation section that performs better than the original construction ever did.
- New structural footer (10× original capacity)
- Reinforcing rebar
- High-strength concrete
- Structural wall reinforcement
